Director of the St. Mark Bell Choir
Debbie Fetterhoff says that she is “having a blast” directing the St. Mark Bell Choir and singing in the choir. Music has always been part of her life, and she began taking piano lessons at age eight. By age 11, she was playing for her church Sunday school in Shreveport, LA, and by high school, she was the church pianist and organist.
In high school, she soloed with the Shreveport Symphony, and went on to major in piano performance at Centenary College of Louisiana, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree. She was the accompanist for the College Choir, which performed locally and internationally. Debbie later earned a Master of Music degree in piano pedagogy from the University of Texas at Austin, and studied at the Academy of Music in Vienna, Austria.
While her two children were growing up, she taught private piano lessons, and taught at the Colburn School and Santa Monica College, as well as at Jane Addams Middle School in Lawndale (also teaching the marching band!). Now, besides her work with St. Mark, she and her husband enjoy playing piano/bass guitar duets. We’re grateful that she’s making beautiful music at St. Mark!
