In 1990, Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single Presbyterian youth group:

“Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since then, more than $170 million has been generated for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl Sunday.  On February 11-12, the Deacons will be accepting gifts of canned goods and monetary donations in the narthex at each service.  The collections will be given to the Someone Cares Food Kitchen in Costa Mesa and Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine.  The Deacons are hoping for a big win!
