St. Mark Community mission dollars at work

Peace Research Center at Holy Land Trust, Bethlehem

Ever since the Holy Land Trust in Bethlehem helped organize a tour of the West Bank and home stays with Bethlehem Christian families for some members of St. Mark in the spring of 2007, our congregation has returned the hospitality with mission gifts for their programs on non-violent training and education.

Over the past year and a half, HLT has spearheaded an ambitious rehabilitation of a rundown but architecturally significant building in the the heart of the Old City of Bethlehem on Star Street, recently designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Work was funded primarily by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and overseen by the Center for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHD) of Palestine.

Dedication finally took place on October 12, 2012. Within this now elegant building is the Peace Research and Learning Center. A recent gift from the St. Mark congregation helped fund furniture for the Center! Your Peace and Justice Commission and Mission and Stewardship Commission worked together on this project, and we thought you might like to see some of the photos from the dedication.
