Examining the Body

The Apostle Paul tells the church in Corinth that they need to “discern the body of Christ” or else they will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper in an “unworthy manner.” What does it mean to “discern the body” today, when an “average church member” is more likely to be a Liberian teenager, a South Korean university student, or a Mexican mine worker than a U.S. suburbanite? It means we have a lot to learn from our siblings around the world about what it means to be the body of Christ.
